In Memoriam

Kitty Petty

When someone cares about you, it is special.

10 AM Saturday, May 07, 2005: a precious light helping to illuminate your path flickers out and the world becomes a little darker, a little colder.  I have some tears and wish her much love.

Thanks for caring Kitty.  Thanks for everything.

Geoffrey

"Kitty smiling down on us all"

This picture on her website "says it all"

You are looking at the pic on her server at the moment.  I've done it with a coding "sleight of hand".  I have simply asked her server to place the pic (http://kpinst.org/Kpi105.gif -- from her original website homepage) in the frame I've provided.

I had been meaning to attend one of her Symposiums, but somehow never got around to it.  I'm "Inattentive" (that typically means a passivity problem, we struggle with that "pro-active" thing, especially with that self-esteem issue).  So she invited me to her 2003 one.  I volunteered and did registration so I could afford it.  Great therapy meeting all those new people for a half-minute or so.  Which I very much enjoyed.  I wish I could have checked everyone in!  That self-esteem problem of mine.

Anyway, a couple of months previous to this, Kitty had been impressed by the new July 4th 'happy faces' fireworks displays (I've never seen them myself yet) commenting:

>Boy, weren’t the fireworks fantastic?!!
>I thought the "Happy Faces" were clever.

So later, after her Symposium (that September) I reflected her earlier words back to her thanking her for how much I enjoyed the experience and told her:

>Boy, weren’t the fireworks fantastic?!!
>I thought the "Happy Faces" were clever.

"yes Kitty, I too thought all those smiling faces I saw at your Symposium you invited me to were very clever of you.."

as I thought to myself smiling "hmm.. how did she do that?"

>I thought the "Happy Faces" were clever.
yeah, Kitty's smiling down on us all..

Like Dr. Hallowell was from the podium at the beginning of his last lecture I attended (5/13/04) in Palo Alto.  As he gestured smiling down on us all introducing Kitty to us.  In front of his audience of several hundred.  And his whole lecture was about the importance of one's Environment.

>I thought the "Happy Faces" were clever.
Very clever indeed.

>Boy, weren’t the fireworks fantastic?!!
yeah,
Kitty's smiling down on us all..

And that picture "says it all"
