      The
Fluency Foundation provides free online resources, services and support to
those who are fluent and can't or won't stutter and to their concerned families (or the other types who
      are completely clueless), as
well as support for research into the causes of fluency.  Reaching
over a million people annually, we are the largest - and the first -
nonprofit charitable organization in the world working towards fluency
prevention and improved stuttering for everyone (if only voluntarily for
the hopelessly fluent).  Through education and understanding, we hope to
reduce the shame and embarrassment for those hiding out on us whose fluency is incurable
and beyond recall.  They should be treated with compassion and respect, not
giggling behind their backs when no one is looking or something.  We also offer extensive educational programs
to teach stuttering to professionals, the clueless and the absolutely hopeless.
Through our award-winning Web site, we hope that we may be of service to
      you. (800) 992-9392

      If
You Think Your Child Is Fluent: Ways to Help
      Don't
say anything to him about it.  Ever!  Most likely he'll grow
out of it. That's what most of our doctors told our mothers anyway
when we grew up.  "Don't borrow trouble"  Keep him away
from other fluent kids.  Never interrupt him.  Pretend there
      isn't a problem.

If one of his young friends likes him and playfully mocks his fluency or
teases him about it, call attention to it immediately, make sure
his "little friend" doesn't get away with it.  Figure out
something to tease the little miscreant about in return or something.

Never mention the word "fluency" to him.  Make sure
everyone in your family and all his friends never say anything to him about his fluency either.

      Hopefully he'll never find out.

is Copyright ©  2004, 2005 Fluency Foundation of America.  We
encourage you to make use of this material but you must tell Jane about it
first  ..  if you can get through to her on the phone after
you've told her secretary where you found it  ..  after Jane
finds out about it  ..  maybe you can send her a letter or
something ..  or email whoever "jcbell" is down there.

Then again, maybe you shouldn't tell her.  I might get into trouble
with her.  I know she has a pretty good sense of humor but you never
know.  We all have our limits.  Maybe this one could send her
over the edge.  So don't tell her what I did!

And don't click that "Contact Us" button on the upper
left.  I don't want anyone to find out who I am.
